Section 01

What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files that are placed on your device — computer, smartphone, tablet, or wearable — by a website when you visit it. They are widely used to make websites work more efficiently, to remember your preferences, and to provide information to the website's owners about how their site is being used.

A cookie typically contains:

Cookies are not programs and cannot carry viruses or install software on your device. They are simply small data files stored in your browser.

ℹ️

Similar technologies — such as web beacons (also called tracking pixels), local storage, IndexedDB, and device fingerprinting — can serve similar functions to cookies and are also covered by this policy wherever applicable.

Section 02

Why we use cookies

Bionic Ring uses cookies for the following purposes:

Section 03

Types of cookies we use

We classify our cookies into four categories, consistent with the guidance of the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) and the EU's ePrivacy Directive. The categories are explained in sections 3.1 to 3.4 below, including which cookies require your consent and which do not.

⚖️

Consent requirements under PECR and UK GDPR: Strictly necessary cookies do not require your consent as they are essential for the website to function. All other categories require your explicit, informed consent before we set them. You can withdraw or update your consent at any time using the preference panel in Section 7 of this policy.

Section 03.1

Strictly necessary cookies

Section 03.2

Functional cookies

Section 03.3

Analytics & performance cookies

Section 03.4

Marketing & targeting cookies

Section 04

Third-party cookies

Some cookies on bionicring.com are set by third-party services whose functionality we embed in our website. These third parties operate independently and have their own privacy policies. We recommend reading them to understand their data practices.

Bionic Ring does not control how these third-party services use data they collect. However, we only permit third-party cookies on our site that are proportionate, necessary for a stated purpose, and subject to an appropriate Data Processing Agreement where required.

Section 05

Cookies and health data

Bionic Ring is a health technology company. We understand that health data — including sleep patterns, heart rate variability, menstrual cycle data, fertility information, and activity data collected by your Bionic Ring wearable — is among the most sensitive personal data that exists.

We want to be unambiguous about the following:

🔒

If you are a Bionic Eve user, cycle data, fertility tracking information, and temperature baselines are considered special category health data under UK GDPR. This data is encrypted at rest and in transit, is never used for advertising targeting, and can be permanently deleted on your request.

Section 06

Managing your cookie preferences

You can update your cookie preferences at any time using the panel below. Your choices will be saved in your browser for 13 months, after which we will ask for your consent again. Note: if you clear your browser cookies, your preferences will be reset and you will be asked again on your next visit.

Withdrawing consent will not affect the lawfulness of any processing carried out before withdrawal. Some website features may not work correctly if you decline functional or analytics cookies.

Section 07

Browser-level cookie controls

In addition to the preference panel above, all modern web browsers provide controls to manage or delete cookies. Note that blocking all cookies through your browser settings may cause parts of our website to stop working correctly, as some strictly necessary cookies will also be blocked.
